Every Little Step

"Every Little Step" explores the incredible journey of A Chorus Line, from ambitious idea to international phenomenon.

Winner of best motion picture at the Satellite Awards 2009, Every Little Step is a 2008 American documentary film produced and directed by James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo. It follows the process of casting the 2006 Broadway revival of A Chorus Line and explores the history of the award-winning musical, beginning with the informal interviews with Broadway dancers conducted by Michael Bennett that served as its basis. Their personal observations and feelings were captured on audiotape, many of which are heard in this film.

‘It's all up there on the screen in this impassioned, exhilarating documentary. They want to dance for you. It's what they did for love.’

‘There are still plenty of engrossing aspects to the film, moments in the audition process that demonstrate the complexity of performance.’ The Age (Australia)

‘These stories of struggle, leading to triumph or defeat, are what make Every Little Step so fascinating. They're also the film's weakness - we only get a taste of who these people are and how they came to be here.’ Washington Times
